McGilbert House
1902 Old Mill Rd., Lufkin, TXAn unusually early surviving example of company housing in Texas. A good example of worker housing is associated with the Angelina County Lumber Mill and the company town of Keltys. Described by Lita Mayberry as an area of "B houses," smaller than Type A houses. They were generally painted white, and had five or six rooms, little porches, and smaller yards enclosed by board fences. Some had single garages and were furnished with electricity, water, natural gas, and sewer connections. The significance is architecture at the local level.
Local significance of the building:Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
