Dewey County Courthouse

The original nomination described the Dewey County courthouse as being the "only courthouse in Oklahoma that exhibits stucco construction." While this is true, the stucco is not original to the building. When completed in 1925, the courthouse featured red brick walls with a stone base, entry, and quoins. A ca. 1940 remodeling added the stucco covering.

As architecture is not the area of significance for the nomination, the historic alteration to the building does not affect its ability to convey its significance, as the seat of local government for Dewey County.
