Bandelier National Monument

Thought to be an early home of the Indians from Cochití and other Keres-speaking pueblos, the villages and cliff houses of Frijoles canyon were occupied from the 1200’s to before the arrival of the Spaniards in 1540. The monument is named for Adolph F. Bandelier, explorer and pioneer anthropologist of the Pajarito Plateau.
