Embudo Stream-Gauging Station

Established in 1888. Site of the first United States Geological Survey training center for hydrographers. Those trained here made some of the earliest hydrological studies in the nation, leading to stream-gauging of many streams throughout the country, and thus providing important evaluation of the nations surface water resources.
