( Marker is at the intersection of Main Street (Massachusetts Route 30) and Marlboro Road (Massachusetts Route 85), on the right when traveling east on Main Street.)

Marker installed: 1927

The first American lighthouse was built in Boston Harbor in 1716. The lighthouse was destroyed during the American Revolution and rebuilt in 1783.
