Ames, Josiah A., House

145 Bridge St., Barnstable, MA

The house was built by Josiah A. Ames (1827-1900) on his return from the western gold rush. He served in the Civil War in the 40th infantry. The Lincoln House Ass. of Boston used the house as a lodge from 1902-1922. The Lincoln House Ass, was a "fresh air" group; members stayed at the cottages for two weeks during the summer.
