Operated by Kentucky Female Orphan School since 1944. Orphan school was founded by James Parrish and Dr. Lewis L. Pinkerton. It was the first female orphan school in the United States. Chartered by 1846 Kentucky Legislature. Opened in 1849 with 14 students present, and for over a century has provided for deserving young women.
