Avery held an early suffrage meeting in her parlor, with guest lecturer Lucy Stone. Associate of Susan B. Anthony, Jane Addams, Booker T. Washington and other reformers. Wife of Benjamin F. WOMAN’S CLUB OF LOUISVILLE Established on March 1, 1890 as a woman’s volunteer organization for civic, cultural, and community services. Promoted woman’s suffrage, equal property rights, child labor laws, KY Forestry Commission, Juvenile Court, literacy, and public health. Founded Younger Woman’s Club, No-Jury Art Show, and co-founded the Louisville Deaf Oral School. Dedicated September 12, 2018.
