Walker Foxhounds

Site of John W. Walker's home where he and George Washington Maupin, avid hunters, bred and developed famous Walker foxhounds. With red fox migration into central Ky., ca. 1852, Virginia hounds were crossed with "Tennessee Lead," a dog noted for speed and stamina needed to hunt red fox. English hounds "Rifler" and "Marth" brought color and conformation to breed.
