The earliest Presbyterian Church in Franklin County was built in 1795 on a site one mile to the east; organized by Thomas Paxton and located on land owned by him. Services held in it until 1848. Rev. Samuel Shannon was its first Minister. Mr. Paxton and others from Upper Benson Church aided in founding The First Presbyterian Church of Frankfort in 1815.
