John Hunt Morgan Escape Route

On Nov. 28, 1863, after escaping from Ohio Penitentiary & taking a train to Cincinnati, CSA Gen. John Hunt Morgan & Capt. Thomas Hines crossed the Ohio River to Ludlow. Sympathetic Boone County residents, as well as Big Bone Baptist Church, gave them food, shelter & supplies. They rode into Gallatin Co. the following night. See map over
