This Lawrenceburg native was one of the first black women in Ky. to enlist during World War II. She joined Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in 1942, and was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant the next year in newly named Women's Army Corps. While stationed at Douglas Air Field, Arizona, she led fight to desegregate base theater. Presented by Ky. African American Heritage Commission.
