The W. S. Blackwell House occupies the site of two houses owned by T. W. Peagler. The first Peagler House was destroyed by fire in 1906 and was replaced by a Colonial Revival house which was also destroyed by fire in the early 1920's. The present house was built by W. S. Blackwell, the son-in-law of T. W. Pealger, in the early 1930s and is still owned by the Blackwell family.
