Bristol Downtown Historic District

Main St., Bristol, VT

Bristol's central business district's physical appearance has undergone a number of drastic changes over the last century, largely as a result of periodic and sometimes disastrous fires. In general, however, the individual buildings retain their original exterior appearance to a great degree. Nearly all of the storefronts and several of the Interiors retain portions or all of their original fabric. The greatest change in recent years has been the destruction of the historic Bristol Inn in 1961 to make room for the parking lot which now lies to the west of the Union Block.
