Central Roanoke Historic District
100 & 200 blks. of N. Oak St., Roanoke, TXThe Central Roanoke Historic District is located in southern Denton County, Texas. The district is linear, oriented northwest to northeast along Oak Street, the main street through the community from Rusk Street to Main Street. The district encompasses the extant commercial properties that served the community, business owners, area ranchers and farmers. It is also representative of small-town commercial growth in North Central Texas. The community of Roanoke is located in North Central Texas in Denton County at the intersection of U.S. Highway 377 and State Highway 114. The district has eleven structures, eight are contributing and three are non-contributing. The majority of resources retain the integrity of design, location, materials, workmanship and feeling from the district's period of significance.
Local significance of the district:Listed in National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
