Built in 1908, the historic Leasburg Diversion Dam channels water from the Rio Grande to irrigate the vast farming area of the Upper Mesilla Valley. The dam also provides a pleasant spot for fishing, and canoes and kayaks may be used on the river. Picnicking and camping facilities are also available.
