Banfill Tavern

6666 E. River Rd., Fridley, MN

Constructed in 1847, the Locke House is significant as one of the earliest and best preserved Greek Revival style frame residences in Anoka County. It has survived in a relatively unaltered state and has served as a summer home, logging camp office, wayside inn for travelers on the First Territorial Road, area post office, dairy farm, and presently historic house museum. It is representative of architectural taste in Minnesota at the time when it attained statehood.
