Methodist Episcopal Church, South

a.k.a. Old Daphne Methodist Church

1608 Old County Rd., Daphne, AL

The Daphne United Methodist Church is significant as one of two remaining antebellum churches in Baldwin County and as a good example of a country adaptation of the Greek Revival style -- long after the style had reached the height of its popularity nationwide. Although the building was damaged in the 1979 hurricane -- it is listing and the corners are separating -- and it has a replacement belfry (1916), it retains its basic exterior and interior appearance.
